What is AFCAT?

The Indian Air Force conducts the common admission test to fill the vacant positions of Class-I Gazette Officers. The selected candidates have to perform for different ground and flying duties. (Technical and Non-Technical).

It’s the only way for male and female candidates to join the permanent and short service commissions in the Indian Air Force. The authority conducts this AFCAT Exam twice a year: February and August.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the jobs in defense services differ from other competitive exams. If you are preparing for the available posts, then you must be Indian Citizenship.

Age

• 20-24 years for flying branch
• 20-26 for ground duty

Marital Status

• Unmarried candidates below 25 years of age
• Widowers/Divorcees below 25 years of age are not eligible
• Candidates above 25 years of age are eligible, but won’t get married accommodation.

Education

Flying Branch

• Candidates who have passed 12th class with 60% marks in mathematics and physics, along with graduation in any discipline
• Candidates who have completed BE/BTech with 60% or equivalent
• Candidates who have scored at least 60% in section A & B exam of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers/ Aeronautical Society of India

Ground Duty Technical

• Passed 12th with 60% Marks in physics and Math along with a four year degree in Engineering/ Technology
• Passed section A & B exam of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers/ Aeronautical Society of India
• Scored at least 60% in Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers

Ground Duty Non-Technical

• Graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 60% Marks
• Scored at least 60% Marks in section A & B exam of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers/ Aeronautical Society of India

Candidates who have scores a minimum of 50-60% in MBA / MCA or MA / MSc in any of these subjects:

• English
• Physics
• Mathematics
• Chemistry/ Statistics
• International relations
• International Studies
• Defense Studies
• Psychology
• Computer Science
• IT
• Management
• Mass Communication
• Journalism
